Custom Work Shirts

A work shirt has one job: get worn every day and still look right at the customer’s door. The right one depends on where the crew actually works, so we ask that before we quote anything.

Button-up work shirts in twill or poplin are the trades standard — pockets, a collar, a logo on one chest and a name on the other. Go long sleeve for sun; in Arizona that’s most of the year, and a light, wicking long sleeve is cooler than bare arms at 2pm. Work polos are what service techs and front-counter staff want: performance poly that dries fast and reads professional. Work tees are the cheapest per piece and the most-worn — moisture-wicking blends for crews, warehouses, and anyone who goes through a shirt a day. Hi-vis shirts cover road, utility, and site crews: ANSI Class 2 or 3, and we decorate them without covering the reflective striping.

On a button-up or polo the standard is a left-chest logo about 3 to 4 inches wide, with the employee’s name on the right chest. Names are the cheapest trust upgrade there is: a customer who can read a tech’s name treats them differently at the door. Send the name list with the order and we sort and label each shirt by person.

On tees and hi-vis, a small front logo and a big back print is the usual combination — the back is where the company name and phone number go, because that’s what the customer sees while your crew works. A sleeve mark works for a certification, a safety program, or a partner brand.

Embroidery is the right call on anything with a collar that gets worn daily: it looks premium and survives years of industrial washing. Screen printing is right for tees, hi-vis, and any big back graphic, and DTF covers full-color logos and small runs. Most crews end up with both stitched and printed pieces, and we’ll tell you which belongs on which shirt.

Three things drive it: the shirt, the decoration method, and quantity. Embroidery is priced by the stitch count of your logo, so a left-chest logo on a mid-range work polo lands in the low-$20s per piece all in whether you order for six techs or sixty. Printed work tees follow the volume curve: roughly $12 to $17 each at 48 to 71 pieces, settling toward $9 to $12 past a thousand. Hi-vis and heavier twill button-ups sit above a basic tee because the blank costs more.

Digitizing and screens are included when you order through a company store or place a bulk order that meets our minimums; outside that, setup is a one-time charge we quote up front. When you compare quotes, add the other shop’s setup fees back in first — that’s where most “cheaper” quotes stop being cheaper.

If a number lands high, the lever is the blank, not the decoration. We’ll show you the same logo on a less expensive shirt rather than thinning the embroidery or dropping a print color you wanted. Full breakdowns are in our screen printing cost and embroidery cost guides.

A one-time run starts at 48 pieces for screen printing, 24 for embroidery, and 12 for DTF, which covers most crews in one order. Most orders run about two to three weeks from the approved mockup; if a garment is backordered anywhere in the country, you hear it from us before you commit, not after.

The harder problem is the tech who starts in March. An online company store fixes that: your approved shirts, logo, and thread colors sit at a private link, and anyone orders their own size with no minimum at all — and it matches, because it’s stitched from the same saved file.
